I have added few of my photos that was taken during my bike trip to Bhutan.

This ride was again with the Old School Bikers and around 30 of us went. The itenarary was to send our bike to Siliguri and we flew down to Siliguri and picked up our vehicles and rode to Gangtok, Pheuntsholing, Thimpu, Mongar, Samdrup and Guwahati. This was around 2 week trip with a hectic drive of 12 to 15 hrs hrs every day.

“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride”

We picked up our bikes form Siliguri, assembled it and started the ride. The bikes are parked ready for the start of the ride from Siliguri.

Taking a short break, on the way to Gangtok. The stretch to Gangtok was amazing. I would say only 1st 2 days of this trip was a little relaxing. The adventure waits for us after these 2 days.
How majestic the bike stands next to the Teesta river. This Teesta river follows all through this route. Day in day out you will be seeing this river and the whole route is along this river.

We left the bikes in Gangtok and all of us took a van to Valley of flowers. It was a day trip and this drive was more adventurous than our bike ride, such narrow roads and these taxi drivers ride so rude which make us shiver. Ravi giving a pose in the valley of flowers.

Next was my turn to give a pose in the valley of flowers. We hardly had 2 hrs to spend there, it was a long journey to reach back.

Having my favorite maggi.  Here in Himalayas anywhere  you go one staple food that you will find is maggi. It is prepared so hot hot with chilis and spicy masala that tastes so good.

We reached Puntsholing at aroung 4 pm which was the entry point of Bhutan. It was a nice small town and finished our procedures and started our ride at around 5 30 pm. It was a hectic ride and small roads and deep valley on the side which made our ride even slower.

By morning 1 am we reached a check point 2 hrs before to Thimpu, and there they dint allow us inside due to permit problem. It was sooo cold and all 28 of us shivering in the road and waiting for the permit issue to be solved. And finaly we got green signal to go at 3 30 am and then started our ride and reached Thimpu at 4 am morning, which leaves with a stright 22 hrs of drive in one day.

We all check in and dint get up till next day evening.

On the way in the chill breeze, snuggling into my jacket. This was the day we left Gangtok and we were told to start as early as 5 am, since its going to be a long drive of 15 hrs to reach Thimpu. As per plan we left early, but we dint expect the miserable event that happened. One of our fellow biker met with a accident on the way and we had to admit him in the hospital, and left one of the guy to take care of him and all others left for the drive.

A selfie long time back, before selfies became popular. In Bhutan every day was an adventure, next day we left to Mongar and again it was suppose to be long ride. By evening 4 pm it starts raining in the July month and it gets very cold and added to that getting wet in the rain… Still I cannot forget that feeling of chillness and riding in the rain. That day by 5 pm all of them stopped in a cozy coffee shop and half of the crowd was not ready to ride further, since it was dangerous to ride. One side it was deep valley and you cant see even one feet ahead in the mist. All decided to go in a line and the first person check for the reflector one by one and navigates the others, that way we reached Mongar again in the morning by 3 am.

Crossing a falls what they call “nala”… These nalas are quiet common on the way. The day we had to cross the nala all the lazy bums too wake up early and start the day early by 6 am, the reason is by 12 pm the water level increases in these nalas and one cant cross it after 12 pm. The ice melts and by afternoon the water increases and the force also increase, so it becomes difficult to cross the nala. Here you can see how Ravi is managing to cross with a help…

This is part of the team who reached the target little early and we are waiting for the rest of the team members to join us to start with the next leg…

I have given a lot of information of this and now you know what this is? Yes a nala crossing again.

No need to explain these kinds of land slides and road block due to clearing it is quiet common. Only thing is to know how lucky you are –  wait for 2 hrs or 20 hrs is what matters…
